Upcoming Survey: Reservation System

If you didn’t previously have an opinion about the reservation system, you likely do now.

Whether you love it, hate it, or fall somewhere in between, you will soon have an opportunity to provide feedback via a survey distributed by the Washington State Transportation Commission. Here’s the text of a notice that was sent out this morning:

At the end of this week you will be getting a survey from the Washington State Transportation Commission (WSTC) asking Ferry Riders Opinion Group (FROG) members like you to evaluate the current WSF reservation system.

If you know of anyone who would like to take this survey but are not a member of the FROG survey panel, it’s easy for them to join!

Just send them the sign-up link below and they will receive the FROG reservation survey.

Ferry Riders Opinion Group (FROG)

All results of FROG surveys are shared with WSF leaders, the Governor and the Legislature. The more people who participate in FROG surveys, the more impact your collective voice will have. We hope you will take this upcoming survey and also encourage your friends and family join today to help shape the future of WSF.

F.R.O.G. and Fall Schedule

Remember that the Fall schedule kicks in on Sunday, September 23rd.

I received the following message today and am posting it here for anyone who may not already be signed up to receive notifications for surveys from the Washington State Transportation Commission.

Over the last couple of weeks (check your past emails from us to see if you received it), the Washington State Transportation Commission sent 7,000 WSF riders a link to a new Ferry Riders Opinion Group (FROG) survey that will cover WSF customer service issues, fares, schedules, and other topics.

To get as many people involved as possible, we are hoping we can enlist yourhelp in getting more folks to join the FROG and participate in the ferry surveys.  The more we hear from – the more impact your collective voice will have.  If you know of any ferry riders, or people interested in ferry issues, who might want to participate in the current FROG survey, please pass this email along to them.

To sign up for the FROG, they just need to go to:

We truly do appreciate you taking the time to share your views via the FROGsurveys (if you haven’t already taken the summer survey – it isn’t too late – just check your past emails from us) and also appreciate any help you can lend us in getting more folks to join the FROG community.

Summer F.R.O.G. Survey Available

The Summer Ferry Riders Opinion Group survey is currently available. Please take the time to complete it.

Here is the message about the survey from Dan O’Neal, Washington State Transportation Commission Chair:

The WA State Transportation Commission has launched the SUMMER 2012 WA State Ferries (WSF) Performance and Issue Survey. The topics covered in this survey include:

* Service performance and satisfaction
* Recreational and summer ferry travel
* Scheduling and ability to meet transportation needs

Your comments will influence critical decisions at the state level, so please join us in this important study by clicking on the link below.

The survey takes about 12-18 minutes to complete. For your convenience, you may start/stop the survey and pick up where you left off whenever it is convenient for you.

Thank you for your input and for making your voice heard on these important ferry issues.

Washington State Transportation Commission

WSTC presentation on FROG survey

Another presentation at the July 18 the Washington State Transportation Commission (WSTC) meeting was on the FROG (Ferry Rider’s Opinion Group) survey. This portion of the meeting can also be viewed on the TVW website, and begins around the 3-hour 16-minute mark. The presentation slides include data from the winter survey showing changes in ridership from 2010 to 2012. One interesting figure is an increase from 50% to 60% commuting traffic from 201 to 2012 on the San Juan Islands interisland route.

View the presentation slides.

Two days left

At the risk of being redundant, here’s one last reminder about the Ferry Riders Opinion Group survey related to WSF service levels and fares. The survey closes in 2 days. Anyone can register and complete the survey. The estimated completion time is 18 minutes, but I found it didn’t take that long. These are important topics. Please participate. Click this link to register or access your existing account to take the survey.

Voice of Washington Survey (V.O.W.S.)

In addition to the Ferry Riders Opinion Surveys (F.R.O.G.) you can also provide input on a variety of transportation issues to the Washington State Transportation Commission (WSTC), the governor, state legislators, and other decision makers by participating in the Voice of Washington Survey (V.O.W.S) group. The current survey for this group is directly addressing the ferries, so you may want to join and add your two cents.

The current F.R.O.G. survey is also still open. If you have not already responded, you still have time.
